The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) reported recently on the tick-borne disease situation in the country (computer translated), and the data shows that case numbers of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) and acute Lyme disease are up during the first half of the year, prompting health officials to talk to the public about prevention and treatment of tickborne disaeses.

FOPH reports 150 cases of TBE from the beginning of the year through June, including 73 cases reported just in June. This is very high in the multi-year comparison, health officials note.
Concerning Lyme disease, by the end of June, an estimated 21,300 visits to the doctor for tick bites and 6,900 acute cases of Lyme disease had been reported, again, both values are very high in the multi-year comparison.
In Switzerland, the tick season starts in March and ends in June, depending on the weather.
